What is a Neighborhood Area?
A neighborhood area is not the same as a homeowners' association. You do not have to pay dues and you do not have to own a house to belong. In fact, anyone who lives, works, or owns property in Citrus Heights can get involved.
Neighborhood areas are groups of grassroots community volunteers who work together to make a difference in their neighborhoods and in the city. Citrus Heights is divided into 11 neighborhoods with 9 different neighborhood organizations representing each area, with areas 7, 8, and 9 being combined. In fact, developing the neighborhood organizations was voted by the public as one of the Top 10 Accomplishments by the City of Citrus Heights since incorporation in January 1997. Each neighborhood organization has its own bylaws and board which meets on a regular basis to discuss improvements and neighborhood projects.
