The Construction Board of Appeals meets on an as-need basis.
The board is comprised of 5 members who are qualified by experience and training to pass upon matters pertaining to building construction. The members shall be residents of the city. The 5 members are appointed by the City Council and serve staggered terms of 4 years. For more information about the appointment process, please refer to the appointments page.
The function and duty of the Construction Board of Appeals is to determine the suitability of materials and methods of construction, and provide reasonable interpretations of the Technical Codes. The Construction Board of Appeals does not have authority relative to the interpretation of the administrative provisions of the codes nor is the board empowered to waive requirements of the codes.
