City Council Elections
The City of Citrus Heights consolidates its General Municipal Election with the statewide election held in even-numbered years. Citrus Heights’ next regularly-scheduled election will be held on November 8, 2022. The Filing period for Nomination Papers and Candidate Statements will open July 18, 2022 and close August 12, 2022.
Under Citrus Heights’ new district-based election system, voters will elect one council member for the district they are registered in. Seats up for election in November 2022 are Districts 2, 4, and 5. City Council Districts 1 and 3 were elected in the November 2020 elections cycle. Until a Council Member is elected by District, they remain "at-large."
The Council selects one of its members to serve as mayor and vice mayor for a period of 12 months. Additional information is available on the Transitioning to District Based Elections webpage.
